Happy new year everyone! I had some serious doubts as to whether I was going to—whether I should—make a year-end post for what was without doubt one of the worst years of my personal life. But, in the interest of continuity—and because I’m a bit of a completist—here I am with the fifth annual year-end update. Who am I to break a five-year streak?

First, I’ll get to the “business end” of things here at the Legacy. This last year, we had 492 visitors to the blog, who viewed the story pages 874 times. This, in light of the awful year I’ve had, astounds me. To everyone who has visited and read the story chapters and all of my updates, thank you. Your visits and reads always leave me feeling humbled and so happy, really. I have some big life changes coming through the early parts of the year, and possibly into summer. That, however, won’t stop me from dedicating my spare time to Destiny, Jason, Arthur, and the rest of my motley crew. The Farmers WILL return in 2024!

Though I only got one chapter published this calendar year, I have others in the works (you’ve heard this since late 2022, but I assure you, Chapters Nine and Ten are coming.) G2 Prologue Arthur Atwood – A Character Biography was the sole chapter to debut on the blog this year. Even so, it was a meaty, long chapter boasting a hefty thirty-seven pages, and a bit over sixteen thousand words. Compared to previous years, a really poor showing. But 2023 held more challenges than I’d experienced since beginning the blog in 2018. Though progress on writing the chapters has been frustratingly slow, I’m excited about what’s coming.

Compared to years past, this update is short and disappointing. That said, I’m shooting to have Chapter Nine on the blog within the first two weeks of January, with Chapter Ten hot on its heels. The story is getting more fun to write as I get into Destiny’s love-hate relationship with the men in her life. Expect to see more from the old Generation One character, Jason Matthews. Of course, you’ll see Arthur coming into play soon, along with returning characters Ernesto Gonzales, lead guitarist Ross Hampton and the guys in Destiny’s band. If you’re looking for the romance to return, it will in 2024. I’m nothing if not a dyed-in-the-wool, old school romantic.

One last thing, and I almost forgot!! Earlier in December, Chris and I launched The Farmer Legacy Facebook group, a community (eventually! We’re just getting started!) of Sim and romance lovers. It doesn’t matter which version of The Sims you play and love; OG Sims, Sims 2, Sims 3, Sims 4, TSO or FreeSO. Come join us! The more, the merrier!!

On behalf of Chris—my wonderful editor/Photoshop wizard—and myself, we’re sending wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to each of you. We hope that 2024 is kind to everyone.
