Fall 2023 Update

Hello, faithful readers and Sims fans! It has been a long time since you’ve heard from me—or Destiny, for that matter—so I thought I’d give you a quick update on what’s going on behind the scenes at The Farmer Legacy.

I’m happy to report that I’ve been working on the next chapter pretty steadily since mid-summer. It’s not nearly finished, but I’m making progress with it. I actually have three chapters that I’m writing concurrently. Chapters nine and ten are in the storyboard stages, and based on what I have so far, you’ll want to stick around for them.

The second part of Chapter Eight will revisit Fran and Charlie’s best friends and former next-door neighbors, Sunny and Caleb Bradford. If you recall, when they left Appaloosa Plains in Generation One, they’d moved to Twinbrook to help Caleb Junior and his wife, Lisa, with Sunny’s soon-to-be-born grandchildren. The event in Chapter Eight will occur approximately fourteen years after Sunny and Caleb’s move. You’ll meet Lisa, Junior (also known as Cale,) and their children; Todd, and identical twins, Roseanne (Rosie) and Rachel Bradford.

In the early chapters of Generation One, the Bradfords were pivotal characters. Many times, Sunny was Fran’s support and her salvation. Sunny wept with Fran as they said goodbye to Charlie in “The Photograph,” and rejoiced with the Farmer women when Charlie returned home in “Reconciliation.” I recognize the magnitude of Destiny’s last visit with her parents’ best friends, and my storytelling needs to reflect the emotions of those moments. At present, I’m struggling with that.

I still don’t have an estimated date to publish the next chapter. Life remains stressful, but I’m finding that writing continues to be my place of solace and comfort. Whenever I need a friend, I pick up my laptop and visit with the characters who have been my family over the past five years. If that makes me an odd bird, I’ll wear that badge with honor!

I’ve been doing a bit more reading, something I haven’t done in many, many years. I’ve buried myself into reading Stephen King; at present, I’m about one-quarter finished with “Desperation,” and have been riveted by “The Mist,” and “A Good Marriage.” I hope to start Anne Rice’s vampire series soon after the holidays.

Chris has been working on some graphic design for this year’s “Spooky Day” Facebook post. I’ve done one each year since I’ve been writing the blog, but this one is different. I hope you’ll stay tuned for it. Chris knocked my socks off with it, and I’m sure he’ll impress y’all as well. Things are progressing here, albeit slowly.

I appreciate every visit, every view (especially if you’ve read it all before), all comments and likes. I’d love to hear from you, so please feel free to leave comments or likes. It would lift my spirits to know your opinions and suggestions. Thank you for hanging in here, thank you for your never-ending patience, for your thoughts and prayers, both spoken and whispered. I will be back soon, and I hope I’ve made it worth your wait.

Until next time…
